Link to a page on a different website
There are two basic ways to do this:
- Post the actual link url as in "Visit www.mainspringcms.net !"
- Make text into a link as in "Visit Mainspring!"
Post the actual link url
To post a URL ,like www.mainspringcms.net, type it into the content area and enclose it in square brackets: [ and ]
It will end up looking like this in your content screen:
Make sure there are no spaces between the brackets and the URL.
Note: This will only work with links that start with www or http:// so if the link doesn't start with www be sure to begin the link with http:// like so: http://mainspringcms.net
Make text into a link
Of course, sometimes it's better to make it so that a visitor clicks on some text to be whisked away to another site. This is very useful for lists of links or making links in the middle of paragraphs and such. Here's what you do:
1. Type the desired text, then a space then the URL or web address you want to link to. The link will have to begin with http://
2. enclose the text and the link in square brackets: [ and ] It'll look like this
[Visit Mainspring http://www.mainspringcms.net]
3. Finally, enclose just the link in parentheses: ( and ) It'll look like this
[Visit Mainspring (http://www.mainspringcms.net)]
If this doesn't work, check your spacing. There should only be a space between the text and the first parenthesis.
